Visitor Center at Chateau-Thierry American Monument is temporarily closed
The Visitor Center at the Chateau-Thierry American Monument will temporarily close starting Monday, August 23, until further notice.
Due to direction from French authorities regarding the “Pass Sanitaire,” ABMC is no longer able to safely and responsibly manage the flow of visitors to the Visitor Center.
Please note, the exterior of the Chateau-Thierry American Monument and its surrounding grounds remain open to the public.
Staff will also remain on site to answer questions that visitors may have regarding the history of the site. As the COVID situation in France develops we will continue to communicate changes on our website at: www.abmc.gov/operational-status and through our social media channels @usabmc.
This closure does not prevent us from continuing our important and sacred mission to honor the service, achievements, and sacrifice of the more than 200,000 U.S. service members buried and memorialized at our sites. No matter the circumstances, we continue to fulfill Gen. John J. Pershing’s promise that “time will not dim the glory of their deeds”.
Since 1923, ABMC’s sacred mission is to honor the service, achievements, and sacrifice of the more than 200,000 U.S. service members buried and memorialized at 26 cemeteries and 32 monuments, in 17 countries, including four in the United States.
