Notes
Sergeant Beaver was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in England. In Korea, he was a member of Company C, 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. On September 1, 1950, while under intense enemy assaults, the 2nd Division committed the 2nd Engineer Battalion as infantry to protect the vital communication center of Yongsan, which was the key to the pass leading back to Miryang on the Pusan-Taegu lifeline. There on September 2, 1950, "Jack" gave his life to protect this center.
