Captain Curran was a member of the Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 242, Marine Air Group 11, 1st Marine Air Wing. On September 29, 1969, he the bombardier/navigator flying in a Grumman Attack Aircraft Intruder (A-6A) over Laos about 25 miles west of Khe San, when he was contact was lost. His remains were recovered on February 11, 2000 and identified on June 27, 2001. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
