Notes
Major Adams was a veteran of World War II. Having just returned from Korea, where he downed six and a half enemy MiGs, he was assigned as a pilot of an F-89 "Scorpion" fighter with the 61st Fighter Squadron at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome New York. On August 30 1952, he was participating in an air show at the International Aviation Exposition at Detroit, Michigan when his aircraft disintegrated at high speed, crashed into an ammunition storage shed and exploded.
