Corporal Adkins served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 7th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action when ambushed along the road from Suwon to Taegue in South Korea on October 9, 1950.
