Chief Master Sergeant Albertson was a member of the 61st Troop Carrier Squadron, Danang Air Base, South Vietnam. On May 31, 1966, he was the flight engineer of a Lockheed Hercules Transport (C-130E) with a mission of placing a floating bomb on the Song Ma River that would detonate as it passed under the Ham Ron Bridge in North Vietnam. As the bombing run was being made, the aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
