Corporal Alexander was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. On February 15, 1951, he was Killed in Action by enemy small arms fire while riding on a tank near Chipyong-ni, South Korea and trying to rescue other American soldiers who were surrounded.
