Notes
Lieutenant Colonel Allen was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he commanded the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. On March 2, 1951, during "Operation Killer" near Chipyong-ni, South Korea, his unit was being relieved by friendly forces. He was killed by enemy mortar fragments.
