Lance Corporal Allen was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. On June 30, 1967, he was a passenger in a Boeing Sea Knight Cargo Helicopter (CH-46A) being extracted from a point near Phu Bai, South Vietnam, when his aircraft was hit by small arms fire crashed and exploded killing him. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. Lance CPL Allen's remains have been recovered and identified.
