Private First Class Anderson was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously injured in North Korea on April 21, 1951 and returned to duty on April 24, 1951. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on May 19, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
