Colonel Andrews was a member of the 21st Tactical Air Support Squadron, Pleiku Air Base, South Vietnam. On March 4, 1966, he was the pilot of a Cessna Bird Dog Observation Aircraft (O-1G) on a cross country visual reconnaissance in South Vietnam. Radio contact was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
