First Lieutenant Bachrach was an air-ground controller with the 49th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. On April 20, 1951, while flying in a AT-6D Mosquito observation aircraft, it crashed landed near Kaochang-ni, killing him and his pilot.
