Corporal Baker was a member of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was mortally wounded by grenade fragments while assaulting enemy automatic weapons positions north of Seoul, South Korea on May 5, 1951.
