Corporal Baker was a member of the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on August 30, 1951 and returned to duty on October 1, 1951. He was seriously wounded again on October 7, 1951 and died of those wounds later that day.
