John Barbour was born in 1866 in New York. He came to the Isthmus in 1905 and served as Chief Clerk, Chief Engineer's Office, Isthmus Canal Commission. He died on May 9, 1909 in his quarters at Culebra. He was buried at the Ancon Cemetery and was disinterred and buried at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1981.
