Private First Class Edouard Barles was born in Solonnet Seyne Basses Alpes, France on March 23, 1888. He emigrated to the United States on March 10, 1908 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was naturalized a U.S. Citizen in 1918. He was promoted to Private First Class in Service Company, 14th Infantry and served during World War I. He died while on active duty on April 22, 1928 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
