John T. Barrett, Jr. was born in Revere, Massachusetts on May 30, 1909. He married Helen M. Barrett in 1940. They moved to Panama and he was made Second Mate, Marine Division Panama Canal Company. He was appointed Canal Zone Marshal on July 6, 1927. He lived at Fort William Davis Military Reservation, Cristobal, Canal Zone. He served as a Canal Pilot, Navigation Division, Panama Canal Company. In 1940, he was listed as Second Officer of a lighthouse. He died on January 30, 1965 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
