Sergeant Barry was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action against the enemy during the "Battle of Pork Chop Hill" near Sokkogae, North Korea on July 9, 1953 and presumed dead on July 10, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
