Sergeant Bartoli was a crew member of a F4U-4B Corsair fighter with the Marine Fighter Squadron 312, Marine Air Group 12, 1st Marine Air Wing. On December 5, 1951, while he was in his parked aircraft, a crippled AD-4L Skyraider collided with his plane killing him.
