Private First Class Baugh was a member of Company G, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. On November 29, 1950, he was riding in a truck traveling from Koto-ri to Hagaru-ri, Korea. An enemy hand grenade fell into the truck in which he was riding. He warned his comrades and fell upon the grenade to protect them.
