Aviation Electronics Radar Technician, Third Class Bell was a member of Fighter Squadron 142, Carrier Air Wing 14, U.S. Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS CONSTELLATION (CVA-64). On October 2, 1969, he was a passenger in a Grumman Greyhound Transport Aircraft (C-2A) over North Vietnam and contact was lost when the aircraft was about 10 miles from the USS CONSTELLATION. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
