Private First Class Benton was a member of the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was killed during an ambush by North Koreans near Libby Bridge just south of the DMZ on November 2, 1966.Private First Class Benton was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal.
