Master Sergeant Berry was the First Sergeant of the Mortar Company, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy along the eastern shore of the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea on December 2, 1950 and died while a prisoner on December 20, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
