Private First Class Bibbs was a member of Troop F, 8th Cavalry Regiment 196th Infantry Brigade. On June 11, 1972, he was the gunner of a Hughes Loach Observation Helicopter (OH-6A) was making a visual reconnaissance of the northern provinces of South Vietnam, when the aircraft exploded and burned. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. PFC Bibbs remains were recovered and identified on February 7, 2011.
