Major Bifolchi was a member of the 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, South Vietnam. On January 8, 1968, he was the navigator of a McDonnell Phantom II Reconnaissance Fighter (RF-4C) on a reconnaissance mission when radio contact was lost in Kontum Province, South Vietnam. His remains were recovered on April 8, 1993 and identified on April 18, 2006. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
