Notes
Private Black was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. On August 13, 1950, while defending his position against superior North Korean forces near Tae-Dong, South Korea, he helped stem the attack by exposing himself to enemy fire so that he could throw hand grenades at the approaching enemy.
