Captain Bloodworth was a member of the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Ubon Airfield, Thailand. On July 24, 1970, he was the navigator of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) on a mission over the Plain of Jars in northern Xiangkhoang Province, Laos. In making the final strafing pass on a truck convoy, the aircraft was hit by hostile fire, crashed and exploded. His remains were recovered on August 19, 1993 and identified on January 29, 1998. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
