Captain Boggs was a member of the Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 533, Marine Attack Group 12, 1st Marine Air Wing. On August 27, 1967, he was flying in a Grumman Attack Aircraft Intruder (A-6A) on a bombing run near Haiphong, North Vietnam when contact was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
