Captain Bond was a member of the 390th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Danang Air Base, South Vietnam. On September 30, 1971, he was the navigator of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4E) on operational missions along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, Laos. Radio contact was lost when the aircraft was near Ban Pepten, Saravane Province, Laos. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
