Major Booth was a member of 131st Aviation Company, 212th Aviation Battalion, 16 Aviation Group. On October 16, 1969, he was the pilot of a Grumman Mohawk Aircraft (OV-1C) over Laos when radio contact was lost and he was listed as Missing in Action. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
