James Bryce Boring

On December 7, 1941, the battleship USS Oklahoma was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor when attacked by Japanese forces. After receiving multiple torpedo hits, the USS Oklahoma capsized. F2C Boring was one of 492 sailors and Marines lost on that day. His remains were among 383 Pearl Harbor casualties which were unidentifiable. He was interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific as one of the Unknowns. In 2015, the Department of Defense authorized the disinterment of Unknowns of the USS Oklahoma buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. By use of modern day forensic science, F2C Boring's remains were identified. His name is permanently inscribed on the WWII Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial located at the cemetery.
