A 19 year old American man from Pennsylvania serving on active duty as a Seaman Second Class aboard the submarine "USS Bass" (SS-164) during World War II with seven months service. On August 17, 1942 while submerged, a fire started in the after battery room and spread to the torpedo room killing 25 crew members from asphyxiation by poisonous gas. He was buried at Corozal American Cemetery.
