Specialist, Fourth Class Bridges was a member of Troop F, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 23rd Infantry Division (Americal). On June 30, 1971, he was killed when a truck filled with explosives in which he was riding blew up at Camp Faulkner, Da Nang, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial..
