Private First Class Bussiere was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Taejon, South Korea on July 20, 1950 and died while a prisoner about five miles north of Pyongyang, North Korea on October 17, 1950 from malnutrition and exposure. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
