Sergeant Major Lauro S. Cairo was born in Cuba on October 28, 1949. He enlisted in the US Army and was promoted to Sergeant Major serving with the 1109th Signal Brigade, Ft. Clayton, Republic of Panama. He served during the Korean War and the Vietnam War and became a naturalized citizen. He died on August 13, 1990 at the Gorgas Army Hospital and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
