Aviation Hydraulics Mechanic, Third Class Cartwright was a member of Attack Squadron 195, Carrier Air Wing 11 aboard the Aircraft Carrier KITTY HAWK (CVA-63). On January 31, 1971, he was reported missing from Sponson 11 of the carrier. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
