Lieutenant Colonel Chambers was a member of the 23rd Tactical Air Support Squadron, Nakon Phanom, Thailand. On May 22, 1968, he was a passenger on a Lockheed Hercules Transport Aircraft (C-130A) on a mission near Muong Nong, Savannakhet Province, Laos. Radio contact was lost. His remains were recovered on May 29, 2002 and identified on March 13, 2009. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
