Lieutenant Commander Christensen, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Fighter Squadron 143, Carrier Wing 14 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS RANGER (CVA-61). On March 1, 1966, he was the radar intercept officer of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4B) on an armed coastal reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam when contact was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
