Master Sergeant Chung was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 17, 1950 and returned to duty on October 4, 1950. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Kaechong, North Korea on November 4, 1950.
