Captain Clark was a member of the 469th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On December 5, 1969, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4E) on a mission 10 miles northwest of Nong Het, near the Plain of Jars, Xiangkhoang Province, Laos, when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were recovered on February 3, 1995 and identified on October 3, 1997. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
