Aviation Machinist's Mate (Reciprocating), First Class Conaway was a member of Patrol Squadron 1, U.S. Navy. On October 24, 1967, he was declared Missing in Action in South Vietnam. His remains were recovered on November 6, 1967 and identified on April 26, 1984. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
