Percy Stewart Cone was born in Fernandina, Florida on September 11, 1884. In 1909, he moved to the Canal Zone where he was employed as a mechanic for the Panama Canal Company. He was awarded the Roosevelt Medal for his work. He married Norma Horn Wilson on December 21, 1918 at Fort Smith, Arkansas and returned to Balboa, Canal Zone. He died on September 2, 1945. He was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
