Arthur James Connop was born at Old Hill, Staffordshire, England on July 1, 1889. During World War I, he enlisted in the 50th Royal British Engineers as a Sapper on November 1, 1915 and on February 18, 1916 his unit was sent to France. On July 23, 1916, he was promoted 2nd Corporal and on November 23, 1916 he was reverted to Sapper. After the war he became a Seaman on the British ship SS Port Huron. He became ill and was taken to the Canal Zone where he died at Gorgas Hospital on March 23, 1942. He was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
