Chief Warrant Officer, Second Class Cramer was a member of Troop C, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. On January 5, 1971, he was the pilot of a Bell Cobra Attack Helicopter (AH-1G) on a training flight from Hue/Phu Bai Airfield in South Vietnam. It is believed the aircraft crashed into the South China Sea. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
