Captain Crosby was a member of the 71st Aviation Company, 14 Aviation Battalion, 16 Aviation Group, 23 Infantry Division (Americal). On January 10, 1970, he was the pilot of a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1H) making a flight from Tien Phuoc to Chu Lai, South Vietnam. Contact with the aircraft was lost and he was listed as Missing in Action. His remains were recovered on January 23, 1989 and identified on July 24, 2006. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
