First Lieutenant Crowell was a member of the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on October 9, 1951 and returned to duty on November 8, 1951. He died of other causes in Korea on April 30, 1952.
