Sergeant First Class Dansberry was a member of the 1st Airborne Ranger Company, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on February 19, 1951 and returned to duty on April 11, 1951. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy on Hill 710 near Kumnol-gol, South Korea on May 19, 1951. During his march to North Korea as a Chinese prisoner his group was strafed and he was wounded. He was taken to a hospital where he died of his wounds and malnutrition on July 20, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
