Col. Davis was a member of the 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Udorn Airfield, Thailand. On September 17, 1968, he was the navigator of a McDonnell Phantom II Reconnaissance Fighter (RF-4C) on an operational mission 15 miles south of Sepone, Savannakhet Province, Laos, where his aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered at the time. Through the work of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the remains of Col. Edgar F. Davis were accounted for in 2018. His name is permanently inscribed in the “Courts of the Missing” at the Honolulu Memorial.
