For his leadership and valor, Private First Class Demski was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Naval Unit Citation, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Private First Class Demski was a member of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was taken prisoner by the Chinese near the Panmunjon Corridor just south of the 38th Parallel on April 10, 1953 and died while a prisoner on June 22, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
