Corporal Di Pino was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Corporal Di Pino was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. On July 29, 1950, his unit was positioned near Anui Road west of Kochang, South Korea when it was attacked by North Korean forces from two sides. His battalion withdrew to positions three miles east of Kochang. During this withdrawal he was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
